Project Description This project will be focused on concept development and visual research. You will be paired into groups of two and choose a trend to start your project. A concept should be easy to research, influences pattern and texture, inspire finishes to fabric, and 80% primary research. The emphasis will be on creating innovative visual responses to themes. Throughout this project you should consider pattern and surface textures and how they can be change through playing with scale, repeat and single motif. This project will be shown to company Knoll and will be further developed with their yarn. You will also collaborate with 1st year FM students to develop material to be exhibited at Pitti Filati, a renowned Yarn Trade show in Florence. Work Description This project’s base trend is Punk principles. We had 5 people in our group with 2 knitwear students and 3 fashion management students. We had meeting every week to decide trends to color. Every part of project was shared and ideas were combined. Our color was inspired from our own pictures from Camden town, London, Vivienne Westwood shops. We wanted to focus on original British punk as our initial theme and developed our idea further by choosing a movie that we all tough had punk principles. The movie is called Labyrinth and we developed our pattern ideas mainly from this movie. We gathered people’s opinions about the movie and it helped us to choose a mood for our project.
